Tammy L. Ortman is a director at Lewis Kappes. After nearly twenty years of real estate and commercial construction industry experience, her practice focus is in the areas of title insurance defense, commercial real estate transactions and construction litigation. She represents national underwriters for coverage matters as well as policy claims from the transaction through civil litigation. In addition, Ms. Ortman assists business clients through real estate buy/sell, financing, development and construction matters as well as day-to-day operations.
Ms. Ortman earned her B.S. degree from Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana, and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Western Michigan University, Lansing, Michigan. She is a member of the American Bar Association and a past Chair of the Title Insurance Litigation Committee; the American Land Title Association, the Indiana Land Title Association, and the Indiana State Bar Association.
She is a frequent speaker for continuing legal education seminars on real estate related topics. In addition, Tammy is a registered and experienced civil mediator.

She has extensive experience representing lenders and commercial real estate property owners in litigation involving title and mortgage fraud, foreclosure, real estate transaction fraud, breaches of contract, negligence, and other business-related matters.
