Manny Herceg

Practice Areas:

Manny focuses his practice on civil litigation, real estate and school law assisting businesses, individuals and school corporations to prevent and resolve disputes. He first joined Lewis & Kappes, P.C. as a summer associate in 2010. He has experience in state and federal courts, and administrative proceedings. In his litigation practice, Manny has worked on real estate, construction, commercial land and lease disputes as well as general contract issues and small business advising. He also has experience with bankruptcies, foreclosures and director and officer liability issues. In addition, Manny has represented individuals injured in automobile and other accidents.

In his school practice, Manny has assisted school corporations with general compliance matters, bullying investigations and reporting compliance, and a number of contract issues. Manny also has experience with a variety of charter school issues representing organizers and authorizers.

Manny graduated from Indiana University - Bloomington and received his law degree from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. While in law school, Manny served as an Editor of the Indiana International & Comparative Law Review and was a Civil Procedure Fellow and Individual Tutor for the Dean's Tutorial Society, where he provided tutorial services to first year law students. Manny also served as a Research Assistant to professor Michael J. Pitts, where he researched various election law issues and also edited Professor Pitts' analysis of a voter identification study. In law school, Manny clerked for the Honorable James S. Kirsch at the Indiana Court of Appeals and worked closely with him and his clerks in drafting opinions in criminal and civil matters.

At Lewis & Kappes, Manny serves on the firm's "Law Day" planning committee, where the firm annually organizes activities for underserved Indianapolis students to expose them to the legal profession. Manny is also a part of the firm's summer associate recruitment committee.

Prior to joining Lewis & Kappes, P.C. in 2010, Manny interned with the General Counsel of the Indianapolis Airport Authority where he engaged in a variety of tasks ranging from advising the Indianapolis Airport Police Department to researching and composing memoranda on several issues with broad ranging implications for the Authority. As an undergraduate at Indiana University - Bloomington, Manny interned with GE Commercial Finance (formerly Bombardier Capital) and served as a Teacher's Assistant to Professor Donna Eider of the Department of Sociology.
