Background

Francesca Hoffmann is an associate in the education practice area. Prior to attending law school, Francesca taught at a Title I school in Miami-Dade County, Florida and at a Blue-Ribbon charter school in Washington, D.C. In 2011, Francesca earned her B.A. from Purdue University in three years, where she graduated with highest distinction. While teaching full-time in Miami, she earned her M.S.Ed. In 2017, she earned her J.D. with a minor in Education Policy, cum laude, from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

During law school, Francesca gained invaluable education law and policy experience working at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights on their Equal Education Project and at the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law working on education equity issues and the Every Student Succeeds Act. Francesca was the recipient of the Richardson, Tinder, Logan Public Service Fellowship, the Class of 2017 Student Life Impact Award, and the Class of 2017 Outstanding Student in Public Service Award for her outstanding dedication to public service. She also served as the Faegre Baker Daniels Access to Justice Pro Bono Fellow, the Symposium Editor for the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality, the student representative to the Maurer Faculty Educational Policy Committee, and worked as a court-appointed special advocate in Monroe County.

She is an Associate Instructor at the Indiana University School of Education and teaches "Legal Issues for Teachers" to future educators. In addition to working as an associate at Lewis Kappes, Francesca is working on coursework to complete her PhD in Education Policy Studies with an emphasis in K-12 Educational Leadership.

Created and delivered an hour-long webinar, "Areas for Advocacy under ESSA," to 55 attorneys from various legal aid organizations from around the country as part of Indiana Legal Services’ continued learning series in October 2015

Oct. 2015: Delivered a two-hour education legal literacy workshop to immigrant parents as part of the Reuben Educational Series at the Indianapolis Immigrant Welcome Center
