Two Lewis & Kappes attorneys elected to board of the Stacey Toran Foundation
(Indianapolis, February 9, 2005) - Lewis & Kappes is pleased to announce that attorneys Peter S. French and Suzanne Robinson Gaidoo have recently been elected to the board of directors of the Stacey Toran Foundation.
Peter French, a Partner at Lewis & Kappes, was recently named one of Indiana's Top Forty under 40. French is a graduate of the College of William & Mary and Tulane University School of Law. He focuses his law practice in the areas of civil litigation, trial practice and small business representation. In addition to his work at Lewis & Kappes, French is a member of the Indiana Bar Association Grievance Committee and the Penrod Society.
Suzanne Robinson Gaidoo is an Associate at Lewis & Kappes. She is a graduate of Indiana State University and the University of Cincinnati, College of Law. Robinson's legal practice is focused in the areas of civil litigation, toxic torts and products liability defense, and the representation of tax exempt organizations. In addition to her work at Lewis & Kappes, Robinson is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association's Racial Diversity and the Legal Profession Committee.
The Stacey Toran Foundation is an all volunteer non-profit organization with a mission to "provide a caring and nurturing environment for at-risk students, to help them graduate with a meaningful diploma and aspire to higher learning resulting in self-reliance and self-actualization." To accomplish this goal the Stacey Toran Foundation has teamed with Butler University to implement a mentoring program which now provides one-on-one mentoring for 17 at-risk students from Shortridge Middle School. Additionally, the Stacey Toran Foundation has awarded over $30,000.00 in academic scholarships.
Stacey Toran was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and was an outstanding athlete. Stacey played football for Notre Dame University and, after his graduation, he played in the NFL for the then Los Angeles Raiders. In 1989 Stacey Toran was tragically killed in an automobile accident. The Stacey Toran Foundation was started by Stacey's brother, Derrick Toran.
In addition to their positions as Directors, French and Robinson chair the Stacey Toran Foundation's Governance Committee.
