Lewis & Kappes Director Advises Northside Redevelopment Group
David S. Klinestiver, a Director with Lewis & Kappes, is assisting the Binford Redevelopment and Growth Group (BRAG) in their ongoing efforts to promote economic revitalization and development on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
BRAG is a consortium of businesses, neighborhood associations and individuals residing near the Binford Avenue corridor between I-465 and Kessler Boulevard, a principal gateway to the City. The organization was formed in the Spring of 2005 as a “grassroots” action group concerned with a declining business presence at the intersection of Binford Avenue and 71st Street. Since then, BRAG has partnered with other civic groups and community leaders to spearhead a number of ambitious improvement initiatives, including a highway beautification project that attracted more than 700 volunteers to plant trees and flowers along Binford Avenue. As pro bono counsel to BRAG, Mr. Klinestiver advised and assisted the group in its restructuring as a nonprofit corporation eligible for tax-exempt status as a Section 501(c)(3) charitable organization. He continues to provide advice and counsel to the BRAG Board on a variety of corporate governance and operational matters.
David Klinestiver joined Lewis & Kappes in 2003. He is a graduate of Indiana University—Bloomington (B.A. Economics 1981; J.D. 1985) and practiced law in Louisville, Kentucky, for several years prior to returning to his hometown of Indianapolis in 1994. Mr. Klinestiver concentrates his practice in the areas of intellectual property, franchise law, and business organizations and transactions.
