Summer Associate Program
Each year, Lewis & Kappes selects outstanding law students to participate in its Summer Associate Program. Lewis & Kappes conducts on-campus interviews at several law schools, including Indiana University in Indianapolis and Bloomington, Valparaiso University and the University of Michigan. Lewis & Kappes pursues top students from all law schools, however, regardless of location, and we encourage interested individuals to contact us.
Summer Associates at Lewis & Kappes are not placed into departments, but rather are provided a variety of assignments reflecting the full array of the firm's diverse practice. We make every effort to provide Summer Associates with assignments in areas of law in which they have particular interest, while presenting an opportunity to gain experience in a spectrum of practice areas. We place a premium on feedback and communication, and the firm is small enough that Summer Associates can work with and get to know all of the attorneys over the course of the summer.
Summer Associates are expected to contribute materially to the firm's legal representation. The work product ranges from research memoranda to pleadings, contracts, appellate briefs and articles for publication. Summer Associates are invited to attend trials, hearings, depositions or other meetings in which Lewis & Kappes attorneys are involved, and in many instances will actively participate in the work that goes into a courtroom presentation.
